Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was born in South London, England into a family of mixed blood. Her father is Nigerian and Swiss and her mother is English. She was a student at The Brit School when she was fourteen years old. She attended The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London where she gained an acting BA. While attending the school, she appeared in numerous stage productions, such as the King Henry V as Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe first began her career as an actor with the film Storm Damage. Since then, she has appeared as a guest on Teachers, Doctors, Casualty, and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's first film appearance was Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream (2007), opposite Colin Farrell. After the film's success, Madekwe played Elisha on the BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN and was featured on six of the episodes Trexx as well as Flipside. Madekwe played Bambi on the ITV2 drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe was a part of the 2008 comedy feature film How to Lose Friends & Alienate People. Her credits in the theatre include Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) as well as Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe had her official US debut on the Drama series The Beautiful Life, which only aired two episodes for The CW before being cancelled. In February, she was cast 2011 as Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. Madekwe's exit from the series was confirmed in May 2013. Following two seasons as the main character she appeared as a guest in the opening episode of season three. In the television series Salem, she played Tituba between 2014 and 2016. Madekwe, her long-time companion, Iddo, married Madekwe in June of 2012. They both appeared on Secret Diary of a Call Girl. They also played as a couple in Salem.
Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario and was a part of a large family. Her four older brothers were also present and included twins Todd & Bram, Brett & Rob. Ashley's brothers, who are all sportsmen, played baseball during the summer and played hockey in winters. Ashley was not a walker, but she danced. In the age of two and half she discovered Baby Ballet. Ashley was enthralled by dance following this. Ashley continued to perform competitively throughout high school at the top levels of competitions, such as ballet, tap, Jazz and Pointe. She also competed in Acrobatics, Acrobatics Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and more. Ashley was awarded the best soloist at each of the most prestigious dance competitions like, International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 5-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, and Dance, Dance, Dance to name a few.
